German Kitchen Branch is focussing on China personelly with support of FOM University

On November 17th 2016 Arbeitsgemeinschaft Die Moderne Küche e.V. (AMK) organized the first AMK/FOM Recruiting Day China 2016 in Münster with the support of FOM Hochschule für Oekonomie & Management. Member companies of AMK working group China had the possibility to get to know 20 high-qualified Chinese students.

For German Kitchen Branch the most important export market outside the European Union is China.  Undoubtedly that market has the biggest future potential for kitchens worldwide. Cologne Strategy Group studies show that in 2030 there will be sold more high-quality kitchens in China than in whole Europe. Therefore more and more German companies are focusing on China.

“Despite the big potential there are a lot of huge and new challenges to face, in particular in cultural terms. Therefore there is a big need to get international and intercultural trained staff. This is why we are very grateful to FOM, that they’re giving us the chance to get those top-educated Chinese students for our branch with this unique program.“, explains AMK-Managing Director Kirk Mangels.

In the new FOM University center in Münster, which is one of the 29 locations, there have been selected more than 20 Chinese students with excellent academic achievements and very good knowledges of German culture and language. In small teams the students had one and a half hours time to prepare a short presentation of relevant topics around kitchen branch in the Chinese market and to present it to the plenum and the AMK member companies afterwards. After impressing work results interview followed in a speed-dating.

„The last 15 years FOM German-Sino School of Business & Technology is giving young Chinese students the possibility of an intercultural education, which usually results in a career start in an international company in Germany or China.“, said chancellor of FOM Hochschule für Oekonomie & Management, Dr. Harald Beschorner.

In the course of cooperation program with two Chinese universities FOM is looking back to more than 2.000 graduates of economic studies. Students therefore are passing one part of their Bachelor-studies plus several German-courses in China, before they are continuing and finishing their studies in Germany for a further year. „There already are several students continuing their Master studies at FOM. Thereby we would like our Chinese students to also get an insight into the economy via internships. When we here can bring together needs of international acting companies with the wishes of our students, we are glad to accompany.“, Dr. Beschorner further adds.

Particularly pleasing: Already ten days after event there are first intermediate conclusions. Most of the students already got offered different possibilities for cooperation. Both, AMK and FOM, would like to get the successful format to be continued and to develop. (FOM/AMK)
