Kitchen and home interior trends 2025
The new comfort: that is all about living amidst bright, natural colors, minimalist designs characterized by clear and structured lines, lots of wood, exclusive metallic accents and unique lighting designs. That describes the kitchen and home interior trends in 2025 in a nutshell. Among the favorite colors are matt, warm shades of beige and greige, which can be perfectly combined with many other colors as well as light and dark wood, stone and glass.
“For those thinking that housing couldn’t get cozier and more appealing, they only need to take a look at the new kitchen and living trends of 2025”, states Volker Irle, Managing Director of AMK, Arbeitsgemeinschaft Die Moderne Küche e.V. (the German Association of the Modern Kitchen).
One of the new most popular colors is beige: from the subtle shell white to all powder and sand shades. When mixed with a touch of grey, another newly popular color is created in a variety of shades: Greige. These two light color palettes are complemented by velvety tones of blue, green, red and yellow, such as the smoky blue, the calming sage, eucalyptus and olive green, as well as the rich Indian red and the sunny sandy yellow.
All the new color designs share a timeless elegance, aesthetic, excellent versatility and their warm radiance. This is perhaps best expressed with the color beige. It is an all-rounder that pairs well with pretty much all other warm colors. It looks especially cozy when combined with light and dark real wood veneers or wooden-like decor and is particularly elegant with accents in black. The warm beige creates a homely and relaxing atmosphere with its soft radiance. Moreover, it suits every interior style, as shown by the new kitchen, dining and living room layouts. Whether it be modern, urban, minimalist designs, more characteristically rough industrial styles, or the cozy country home feel.
The same applies to the popular color greige, a balanced composition of warm beige and grey tones. Greige is just as timeless as beige. Tone-in-tone and in combination with on-trend stone decors such as marble and granite, the color greige appears very distinguished.
Other styling elements that don’t just catch the eye but also elevate any kitchen are the use of metallic surfaces and / or selected metallic elements in bronze or gold. These include bronze-colored metallic lacquered fronts, fine handle strips, kitchen faucets and single bowl sinks. Particularly in combination with the brown color scheme in medium and darker shades, the result is a very natural and homely look.
The exclusive slatted fronts—defined by aesthetically sophisticated, veneered real wood fronts with a vertical groove look—were previously only available at a premium rate, are also now available as wood decor fronts at an entry-level price range. The premium kitchen furniture manufacturers are favoring a casual Japandi style in the new season, the appealing mix of Japanese simplicity and minimalism with the Scandinavian natural and cozy style.
These premium kitchens stand out with a design that exudes a calming sense of serenity and precision. The defining characteristic of this style is smooth surfaces in real wood veneer, featuring a framed structure or an ultra-narrow or ultra-flat frame look. Another option includes lacquered fronts with a delicate, gently rounded edge all around.
The home elements, e.g. display cabinets with narrow metal framed doors, sideboards, highboards and lowboards, as well as customized and smart lighting designs give the new kitchen-living room space their beautiful, appealing and timeless look. Additionally, they ensure a smooth transition between the dining and living areas, that perfectly matches the color, shape, structure and choice of materials to the personal preferred furnishing style. “Everything is moving towards an even more natural and close-to-nature approach to living and the desire for a timeless and sustainable lifestyle”, summarizes the Managing Director of the AMK, Volker Irle.
